TOUR #1049 - SOUTHWEST / GRAND CANYON / CALIFORNIA / SAN DIEGO:
October 24 - November 04, 2010
DAY 1   LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: We board our Luxury Motorcoach this morning  traveling West. We will have lunch in Jackson, TN.  After lunch we continue traveling west, crossing The Mississippi River into the State of Arkansas. Accommodations await us tonight in Little Rock.
DAY 2    -  OKLAHOMA CITY / COWBOY HALL OF FAME: This morning we will have a picture stop at the Capitol before we continue our journey West, stopping in Ft. Smith to see Judge Isaac Parker's Courtroom, where 13,500 cases were docketed and some 79 felons hanged during Judge Parker's 21 years on the Bench. After lunch we enter the State of Oklahoma,  “The Sooner State”, arriving in Oklahoma City, where we will visit the famous Cowboy Hall of Fame, before checking into our motel for the night.
DAY 3  – NEW MEXICO / OLD  ALBUQUERQUE: Boarding our coach this morning we continue west across the Panhandle of Texas. We have lunch in the Beautiful City of Amarillo. After lunch we enter the state of New Mexico, know as the “Land of Enchantment” because of its beauty and rich history, and on to Albuquerque for the night. Before checking into our hotel, we will visit the Old Town Of Albuquerque.

 

DAY 4  – FLAGSTAFF / PAINTED DESERT & PETRIFIED FOREST: Boarding our coach this morning, continuing on West and leaving the State of New Mexico, we enter the state of Arizona, where we will see the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest, having lunch in the Petrified Forest and continuing on to Sunset Crater National Monument, before checking into our hotel at Flagstaff, the hub of Scenic Northern Arizona, is often called the "City of Seven Wonders".
DAY 5     THE GRAND CANYON / LAS VEGAS: Today we view one of God's greatest creation’s, the magnificent Grand Canyon. Then we will stop outside the canyon for lunch. After lunch we continue on our way to the "City of Wonders", Las Vegas. You will be free to take in the sights and sounds of this unique city in the desert. Accommodations await us tonight  in  ‘famous’ Las Vegas.

 

DAY 6    HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA / CRYSTAL CATHEDRAL: After breakfast this morning we are California bound. We take our morning break while crossing the Mojave Desert in California. This afternoon we will view the Chinese Theater with names and handprints in cement and the Walkway of Stars in Hollywood. Continuing on through Los Angeles, we will stop at Rev. Schuller's Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. Overnight in the south Los Angeles area.

 

DAY 7  PACIFIC COAST: Boarding our motorcoach this morning, we travel the coastal highway into San Diego, CA. stopping for a visit at the visitor’s center for an opportunity to wet your feet in the waters of the Pacific. Then we'll turn our motor coach east as we travel. We see breath-taking valleys and sand dunes as we cross the southern portion of the Mohave Desert. After crossing the Colorado River, we will make our way into the area of Casa Grande, AZ for overnight.

DAY 8 – TOMBSTONE, ARIZONA:  Today finds us on our way to the historic town of Tombstone, Arizona.  The town too tough to die which was made famous by the great shootout at the  O.K. Corral.  You will have for shopping and walking where Wyatt Earp and many other outlaws of the Old West once roamed. You may see a gunfight reenactment or jusy wish to stroll Allen Street and take photos. Visit the old original courthouse and learn lots of history of the Old West. Also we will visit Boothill Cemetary where the cowboys who lost their lives at the O.K. Corral were buried.
DAY 9  EL PASO, TEXAS / CARLSBAD CAVERNS: Our destination today takes us through the beautiful city of El Paso, on the banks of the Rio Grande River. Leaving El Paso, we continue on to Carlsbad National Park, New Mexico. We will see a lot of space and "The Great Wonders of God’s Creation“, Carlsbad Caverns. You can take a tour of the caverns, which will take around one hour to complete. You can have lunch (optional) 750 feet underground. The ones not desiring to take the tour can have lunch in the restaurant in the visitor center. Sights you will see today are indescribable! This afternoon we will travel across some of the biggest oil fields in New Mexico.

 

DAY 10 – OLD STOCKYARDS FT. WORTH / DALLAS, TX: We continue traveling across the Lone Star state of Texas and Abilene. We'll stop for lunch in Ft. Worth.  We'll visit the historic Old Stockyards of Ft. Worth where the Chisholm Trial would end and thousands of heads of cattle and sheep were shipped out. Last year this was the highlight of the tour for many people. This afternoon we will stop in Dallas, TX  at the memorial sight where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  You may wish to visit the Book Depository Museum.  Overnight in the Dallas area.
DAY 11 MISSISSIPPI RIVER / TUSCALOOSA, AL: This morning we leave the Lone Star State of Texas. Next we travel through Shreveport, Louisiana. After lunch we travel back across the mighty Mississippi River into the magnolia state of Mississippi, traveling through Meridian, Mississippi that was the birthplace of Jimmie Rodgers, once known as the singing brakeman, as we make our way into Tuscaloosa, AL for our last night on the road.

DAY 12 – HOMEWARD BOUND Today finds us on our way home, as we travel back through Chattanooga, TN.  Do you think you can ever describe, or ever forget, the sights you have seen, the things you have done and the experiences you have had?  Share with others your favorite times of this unforgettable two-week experience and the wonderful fellowship together.  THANKS AGAIN FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF SERVING YOU.
